There are two things that Miss Diane is passionate about – The Green Bay Packers and Redeemer. In that order. Ms. Diane and her family have lived in Chesterfield County for more than 40 years. She has been a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church for about the same time. In fact, she has been working for the CDC for well over thirty years!
It may come as no surprise that both her children and grandchildren attended Redeemer CDC. Ms. Diane is originally from Wisconsin.
Miss Marianne is one of the smiling faces that greets Redeemer families as they walk in the door. She has been working at Redeemer for a few years now. She and her husband are members of Redeemer Lutheran Church. They have two adult children – Matthew and Julia.
Miss Marianne graduated from the University of Virginia with a BA in Environmental Sciences, and taught Earth Science and Biology in Fairfax County. Later, she taught preschool at Westminster Preschool in Waynesboro.
My name is Jamie Cima, and I am currently teaching in Henrico County as a first grade teacher. I have worked in both Chesterfield and Henrico after graduating from Longwood University in 2011. I have also worked at Redeemer for almost 12 years now! I started in high school and never stopped. 😊 I am also a member of the church. I have really enjoyed seeing Redeemer Preschool and Child Care become Redeemer Child Development Center. I have served in many capacities at Redeemer but am looking forward to this coming Summer 2017 where I will be assisting in the office. For fun, I love to drink coffee, go to the beach, eat out in many amazing restaurants Richmond has to offer, and spend time with my boyfriend and his two kids.
Mrs. Stiles has been teaching at Redeemer CDC for roughly three decades. She has been a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church for just a tad longer than that. She is a graduate of Waynesburg University in Pennsylvania and moved to Richmond as soon as she married her husband Tom.
She has two beautiful daughters, a son-in-law, and a grand-dog. In her free time, Mrs. Stiles loves to read books, spend time in her gardens and baking (she calls herself “the Queen of baking”). She also enjoys being close to her family and friends.
Ms. Ashley has two passions – teaching and photography. If you are lucky enough to have a child in her class you will likely reap the benefits of both! She has been working at Redeemer, for the most part, since graduating from college. She has a degree in Psychology from Longwood University (Go Lancers!).
Ms. Ashley is married and has a fur baby named Scout. On the weekends she is busy with her wedding/ portrait photography business.

When she is not working, Ms. Brummer and her family participate in the many fun and interesting programs and activities in the Richmond area.
Ms. Brooks and her family have been active members of Redeemer Lutheran Church since 2002. But it was her two daughters, Leah and Hannah, which brought her to the Redeemer CDC side. She began working for the preschool when her daughters began attending the CDC. Since then she has been a lead teacher in the three-year old classes. She says “working at Redeemer Preschool has brought such joy to my life and has truly been a blessing.”
Ms. Brooks is a graduate of Radford University and is happily married to her husband Stefan.
My name is Deanna Soles and I am a member of Redeemer. I have been at the Preschool in many different positions on and off since 1998. I have been married to my wonderful husband for 27 years and we have a daughter who is in college at Longwood University. Our daughter attended Redeemer Preschool and was extremely happy here. I love the preschool, the children, the parents, and my peers.
Miss Shadia was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia. She started working at Redeemer in 2011. And has taught in the 2’s and, now, the 4’s. She says that Redeemer is like a second home. Miss Shadia has three children of her own – Becker, Sarah and Mohammad.

In 2003, Ms. Kimmick was retiring from Verizon and her granddaughter was in Redeemer’s 3 year old program. A friend (Ms. Stiles) recommended that perhaps she consider working for Redeemer and she has been a part of the Redeemer family ever since.
Ms. Kimmick was born in Ohio and goes back at least once a year. Her granddaughter (the one in the 3 year old class) now teaches at Redeemer as well (Miss Brianna).
For Mrs. Bakken, Redeemer is a true family affair. For more than two decades, she has worked at the preschool. In fact, many of the children she used to teach now work here! She has two grown sons, Chad and Brad. Although Chad was too old by the time her family moved to Richmond, Brad attended Redeemer. In an interesting turn of events, Chad’s wife, Jessica, went to Redeemer as a child! In addition, Chad’s son, Dash, went to Redeemer as well.
Mrs. Bakken is a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and a proud graduate of Illinois State University.
Miss Amy is a Chesterfield native and an alum of Redeemer Child Development Center. She is also a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. She has worked for the CDC for more than a decade. When asked about her time at Redeemer CDC she said, “I feel so blessed to have this job and work with such wonderful people and children every day of my life.”
Miss Amy has two sons, also alums of Redeemer, who keep her on the go! Another important thing to know about Amy is that she is a lifelong Green Bay Packer fan and tries to make it to a few games during each season with her family.
Miss Brittany is a graduate of Monacan High School and a lover of art. She has been working at Redeemer since 2013. She loves to incorporate art into the daily curriculum. When Miss Brittany is not at Redeemer she is pursuing a degree in dental hygiene. She loves swimming and learning new things!

I have been a part of the Redeemer family my whole life, having attended preschool here as well as being a member of the church. I began working here in high school and realized how much joy and fulfillment working with children can bring. In addition to working with children, I am also a full time Respiratory Therapy student. Hi! I’m Miss Katey and I am a floater throughout the school. I have been with Redeemer CDC for about seven years and have loved every minute of it! I am currently pursuing my Master of Teaching degree at VCU for Elementary Education. Working with children and watching them explore and learn is my passion. I have an Associate’s degree in Dental Laboratory Technology and am currently working on my next degree. I come from a family where we have many small children so working with little ones has always been a part of my life. Being able to spend each day with the kids at Redeemer is not only a pleasure but a privilege!
I’m excited to be a part of this wonderful organization at Redeemer. Raising and nurturing children has always been a deep passion of mine. I raised three children as a stay home mom and wouldn’t trade the experience for anything. I ran my own home daycare for many years before coming to Redeemer two years ago. I love working with the children and watching them grow and learn. In my spare time I love spending time with my family and friends. We are expecting a new grandchild in December and I couldn’t be more excited. God has enriched and blessed my life is so many wonderful ways. Being a part of Redeemer has certainly been a blessing.
I began working at Redeemer in 2013. Immediately after I was hired, I was warmly welcomed by my team members and my amazing four year olds. I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else! Working here has helped me find my calling. I am going to be going to Longwood University next year to study Elementary Education! When I am not at Redeemer or at school, I spend a lot of my time with my family and friends.
As I walk into work every morning and I have 30 or more children run to me and say good morning with such joy and happiness, I remember why I started working at Redeemer more than 8 years ago. Maybe to some it’s not the most glamorous job when we get finger paint on our clothes or glue in our hair daily, but to myself and my colleagues it truly is our passion to teach and serve your children every day. Their willingness to learn and approach life with wonder and such determination is amazing to be a part of. From learning to zip their coats to writing their names, we get to see it all and it truly is an honor. Thank you for sharing your children with us! But this is a bio about me, so… I have been blessed with an amazing husband for thirteen years and also have 2 beautiful girls, one about to enter high school and one will be in her last year of elementary school next year. It’s hard to believe they were both at Redeemer at one time. I graduated from Manchester High School in 2002 and I am currently taking classes at John Tyler Community College. I enjoy running, cooking, very hot coffee, and a good book if time allows.

My name is Kara Na and I am currently the Assistant Director at Redeemer. I first worked here many years ago during the summers when I was home from JMU. Being part of the summer camp program and spending so much time with the wonderful kids here made me want to be a teacher, so after college I went on and pursued a Master’s Degree in Teaching from Mary Baldwin College. During that time I worked as an assistant in the two year old class. After graduate school I spent twelve years teaching elementary school in the public school system, working in both Chesterfield and Henrico. I thought of Redeemer fondly during that time and was thrilled to be able to return here this year. When not working at the best little school in the world, I love to spend time with my family. My husband and I have a toddler son who attends Redeemer and who keeps us quite busy! I’m also an avid runner and soccer player, and in my downtime enjoy reading, drinking coffee, and shopping at Target!

Then God brought me to Redeemer in May of 2015 and I couldn’t be any happier! I started off working in the three year old class and now am currently full time with the non-mobile infants. It is such a privilege to work with the children at Redeemer. They have such an innocence that can’t be matched, making work a refuge from the stresses of everyday life. It’s amazing what these children are capable off, not only with their progressive minds and motor skills, but also what they teach me. When I’m not at work I love to paint and spend time with my family! I also am taking more classes to pursue another degree in nursing. I am so thankful for Redeemer!

Growing up as one of the oldest in a family of five, I’ve always been surrounded by kids! I wouldn’t want it any other way, and absolutely can’t wait to have a big family of my own. I’ve had a big hand in raising my younger brothers and sister, and I see such worth and reason in teaching kids. I am currently working on earning a degree in psychology, to reach my goal of becoming a therapist, specializing in play therapy. In addition to being a teacher to the toddlers downstairs, I also work upstairs for the administration of the church. I could not say more about the kindness, dedication and loveliness embodied by each of the staff members, from Pastor Matt to the janitorial staff to the directors to the teachers; everyone is such a joy to work with. The love of Jesus is so prevalent within this job, this staff, and these walls!

My name is Sierra Nightfeather and I am 21 years old. Many moons ago I worked at Redeemer and just recently found my way back. I am now working with the 3 year olds and I love it! When I’m not here spending time with my Sharks and Frogs I’m with my family or out enjoying nature. My favorite thing about working at Redeemer is the community. I’m blessed to be able to work with this beautiful, kind group of women. Another part of our great community is the Redeemer families. It’s always wonderful to see them and the joy their little ones bring them. I’m so happy to be back and can’t wait to not only watch the kids grow, but to continue to grow with them!
